In the menu bar, select Skype > Check for Updates… If there is an update available, you will be prompted to install it. Note: To stop Skype for Windows 10 (version 15) from automatically starting, you can sign out of the app. IMPORTANT: There are two versions of Skype you can have on your Windows 10 PC: the Skype app that comes with Windows 10 and the “classic” Skype desktop app. That’s how you get alerts to new messages. Turn off Automatically save my restartable apps when I sign out and restart them when I sign in. If Skype for Business is listed, select it, and then click - to remove it. If you want to keep Skype installed on your PC but just want to prevent it from opening on startup, you can disable it easily via Task Manager.
